aliciasilverstone#tbt to campaigning for @barackobama back in 2007 in Florida with #mattdamon. I was so inspired by Obama championing a carbon tax - aka putting a price on carbon by taxing companies who have Earth-damaging practices 🌎 while driving innovation around earth-positive business practices. So sad this has still not come to fruition, not on Obama, it hasn't even passed in the state of Washington 😥 I hope that one day we can hold corporations accountable for the harm they cause to our precious Earth. But in the meantime, we must let our voices be heard and vote with our dollars! Divest your funds from a bank that's making money off earth destruction and instead join one that supports climate solutions. Support products that are responsibly made and boycott products that aren't. Educate and inspire your friends/family/community... For the Earth, people living in communities burdened by environmental injustice, your health, and all! And of course, we can never forget the power of voting at the polls! We need every person to show up and elect politicians into office who care more about our planet and people, than profit! How are you letting your voice be heard?
aliciasilverstoneOne of my favorite things is drizzling creamy tahini dressing on a dish. It makes it decadent and delicious! It can also be dangerous when you start eating it by the spoonfuls... 😋
This is my and Bear's go-to tahini dressing. Our favorite tahini brands are @bradsorganic & @soomfoods. For shoyu - we buy #Mitoku Kanazawa in bulk, that's why you see me reusing a smaller bottle in the video. #BernardRanches thank you for your magical citrus! Link in bio for full recipe <3 I highly recommend making this with the nori burritos, freakin' delicious! 📽: the amazing @kristingram, much love
aliciasilverstoneHow can we torture and stuff our faces with these sweet sentient beings who love so much? Especially when our earth is on fire! And it’s the cause 😢
aliciasilverstoneMy friend Renee taught me to make these nori rolls when we were driving to a concert called “Reggae on the River” in Northern California. In the car, she had brought along romaine lettuce, basil, cilantro, avocado, apple, and hummus; and we wrapped them all up in the nori and ate them as we traveled. It was a delicious, refreshing, crunchy snack that kept us going for 2 days! This video is a variation on that nori burrito, but know you can make one out of almost anything (like in this video I used radicchio, sauerkraut, sprouts, and tahini). You can find two super yum tahini dressing variations, one in my book #TheKindDiet and the other in this video! Full video link in bio ✨🎥: @kristingram
aliciasilverstoneI have been a fan of @giovannicosmetics for about two decades. Their products are vegan-friendly & Leaping Bunny Certified aka #crueltyfree. No funky stuff (parabens, sulfates, phthalates yuck!). Their ingredient base is biodegradable and mostly USDA Certified Organic! The 50:50 Balanced Hydrating Clarifying Shampoo/Conditioner are some of my favorites! Smells so yummy and works great. I wash with their shampoo + conditioner, brush my wet hair, sleep on it, and wake up with a fresh head of clean hair with some nice waves! Click the link in my bio for more info. #giovannihaircare #ad
aliciasilverstoneThis recipe is a super-yummy way to sneak sea veggies into your life. I promise if you like sun-dried tomatoes, zucchini, and basil (we used zucchini and basil from our garden!), then you will love this dish. Arame is a species of kelp that’s packed with calcium, iron, vitamin A, and loads of minerals. These gems from the sea have a slightly nutty, sweet flavor and give depth and heartiness to a simple veggie stir-fry. Yum! Huge thank u to my dear friend @Kristingram for playing with me and making these videos. Click the link in my bio for the full video ✨
aliciasilverstoneI mean!! 😍 These babes @aliciasolo @leahsnow17. Thank you @csiriano for putting this trip together and being such an adventurer with me. I loved driving the jeep wrangler we rented with all 9 of us squished in there, so much fun (I was designated driver the whole 4 days). Lío was an amazing night - finding the empty bar, taking over and dancing our pants off. The boat to #formentera (pictured here) and swimming off to the little beach trying not to get stung by all the jellyfish... Then you taking care of me when I got stung! 🥺😘 What an amazing group of free spirited, funny, clever, warm wild ones. I'll always cherish the memories and our time together on this adventure ❤️
aliciasilverstoneMy dear friend @oliverjamesbroughton_ and I first met in Bali and had such amazing adventures together with Bear. Most recently we got to explore Ibiza together. I'm so happy you came to meet me on this adventure! I could look at you forever, you are so beautiful and lovely. One of favorite memories from this trip was our slumber party late night chats in bed with @aliciasolo and without. It was a blind date for you and the gang, but I knew it would be a perfect fit 😘 You’re welcome 😉😋
aliciasilverstoneWhen roaming the magical streets of Paris, I stumbled across this cute little zero waste store @lessismore.eshop 😍 Eco-nerd excitement aside, I really love the simple yet powerful name of their store. We live in a world that constantly pushes us to consume more. But accumulating more doesn't equate to increased happiness. It really just requires so many resources to make the item, then fills up space, collects dusts, and leads to bigger landfills. So what happens with all this stuff besides cluttering your brain and energetic space? Only 9% of all plastic waste on Earth has been recycled - the average American tosses 82 pounds of clothing each year - and 40% of food in the U.S. gets wasted. Yikes. So much waste. When we dial down our consumption, you live more sustainably. How can you live with less? I share my family’s go-to ways in my book #TheKindMama. For more on this topic visit my website thekindlife.com and check out the ‘celebrating spring’ blog post and the post ‘5 steps for living trash free’😘🌎
aliciasilverstoneI mean!! @csiriano u are so brilliant. I loved watching the master at work! You fixing my hair and directing me and of course u placing this insane creation of yours just right! All in seconds for this moment in Paris. Love u forever!
aliciasilverstoneWell Bear & I had another 10 days in #vancouver together. He learned to ride a bike in 2 minutes flat! We live in the hills in LA so being that there is no where for him to ride at home. IM SO happy he is riding here almost everyday! Bike riding has always made me SO happy too, so to share that with him has been so sweet. We had a great time together and he loved being on set. Mama needs some alone time now 🤪 Favorite food spots below!
@cioppinosyaletown
Reflections inside the #rosewoodhotel
@eternalabundance try the alex salad, soups and kimchi roll!
@gloryjuiceco the turmeric shot, squash soup and kale salad were yum. The #17 juice is yum too
@acornvancouver cool place with good food for dinner
@bandidas_taqueria cool vibes here and yum vegan tacos
@chowatchau for yum noodle soup with greens
aliciasilverstoneThere is nothing like peaches that have been caramelizing in their own juices, then topped with what is basically the best granola ever. Full recipe is on thekindlife.com! Link in bio 🍑
aliciasilverstoneTurkey kisses @thegentlebarn with @crystaldeodorant ❤️🦃 I have been using CRYSTAL for over 20 years and am so excited to announce my partnership with them today! I can't think of a better organization to work with. Mainstream deodorants are filled with tons of toxic chemicals that are not only bad for our bodies (eg breast cancer, alzheimer's, etc) but bad for our Earth. Plus, so many major brands are still testing on animals 😢 No thank you! That's why I am so happy there are brands out there like CRYSTAL that I can whole-heartedly get behind and support 💎Do you use CRYSTAL? Let me know in the comments below if you've ever tried it! ✨
aliciasilverstoneHi there friends. I was having a particularly happy moment when I took this. I was overcome with that very unique joy I experience when I think about all the love and support I give to my body and this planet (from the kind diet)--it's enough to get me buzzed! But there's also a part of me that's still overwhelmed with how much more change we need to see in our collective consciousness. Going #vegan and reducing your consumption of animal products (go flirts!) of course makes the biggest impact on our planet(and your body and the lives of others 💃🏼), but there's also a ton of simple things you can do to make a difference. Single-use plastic cups or bottles? No thank you! Bring your own reusable one--I promise you it's way chicer and healthier. And most places offer a discount! Think about that the next time you're grabbing your coffee, smoothie, juice, or water to go. I'm going to continue riding the highs that #thekindlife can bring, but boy does my heart break a little bit every day multiple times over all the unconscious acts of absuse to our earth and creatures and ourselves every day. We have so much more work to do! Can u relate?! 😞
aliciasilverstoneRampant fires in the Amazon, species disappearing before our eyes, glaciers melting, polluted waters and plastic-filled oceans. As if! How can you do your part to turn this thing around? Here are some easy tips to live more sustainably:
Avoid single-use plastics by using a reusable water bottle, straw, cutlery, containers and shopping bags. It’s simple and fun! Set yourself up for success - leave a pair of reusable cutlery in your bag and a jar in your car and you’ll be surprised how much it comes in handy.
Go Veg or try meatless Monday… Or Wednesday, Thursday, Friday… too ;) Animal agriculture is the leading cause of climate change, species extinction, ocean dead zones, deforestation and habitat destruction (see @cowspiracy) Visit thekindlife.com for #vegan recipes + inspiration, and #thekinddiet if you want to dive further with tons more super yum recipes and info on how you can improve your health and prevent disease through a plant-based diet!
Shop consciously! The fashion industry can be super wasteful and highly pollutive (factory smokestacks, textile dyes waste polluting nearby waterways, plastic wrapping, shipping..) Support second hand thrift stores! You can find chic vintage looks and save money. If you are seeking something new, there are increasingly more and more brands driven by sustainability and have lovely eco clothes. I post tons of them on my stories if you need any leads!
aliciasilverstoneMaking lemonade, want some? 😉 #thecrush We go through more lemons than is reasonable for tahini, stir fry, lemonade, etc. Lemon water is super refreshing on these hot Summer days too!
aliciasilverstoneToday is the day! Los Angeles #CD12 please get out and vote for @loraineforla! Click the link in my bio to look up your polling place ✨
aliciasilverstoneWith @aliciasolo at @csiriano ‘s fashion show back in 2016! This was the first fashion show I ever attended minus a fashion show I walked in as a child for @YSL! I never went to shows as an adult because of the cruelty often associated with them (fur, leather, etc.). Christian didn’t use these materials and he even donated proceeds to an animal charity! Anyways, it was love at first sight with Christian and the gang. I had soo much fun at the after party, we danced our pants off 👯💛
aliciasilverstoneKind lifer Stacy wrote to me about her and her family’s experience using our mykind Organics B12 spray. I was delighted to hear from her and wanted to share this powerful story with you all! “I give the B12 spray to my kids and it has been fundamental in changing the dynamic of our home. After the adoption of our son, we found out that he has a gene mutation from fetal drug exposure which makes it difficult for his body to process vitamins from food. This causes him to have emotional and behavioral issues due to poor cognitive reasoning. I started giving him the B12 spray as part of his daily vitamin regimen and he is a different kid! I have even used the B12 spray on myself when I start to have a migraine and it immediately goes away. I am sold on this product. ” Thank you Stacy for sharing this incredible testimony. B12 is known as the “memory vitamin.” We need it for mental clarity, healthy neurological function and to combat stress.† It is also necessary for proper red blood cell formation, for proper DNA synthesis, helping to create the sleep hormone melatonin and for the “mood” hormone serotonin†—among other things. Our mykind Organics B12 comes as a spray, so while it’s super handy it also activates the salivary glands more effectively, allowing the vitamin to enter the bloodstream rapidly and efficiently! It’s Non-GMO Verified, Certified Organic, and free of synthetic ingredients. Plus, it tastes delicious… Bear is obsessed with it, he thinks it’s candy! Have you tried our B12?? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
aliciasilverstoneI’ve loved every moment of our trip together! It was interesting being a single mom and the feelings that come up. 3 weeks alone with my boy, the world and a new adventure! There is so much joy and so much love we share. Bear is the best travel companion anyone could ask for, except I could use more sleep… Waking up at 6am every morning is a tad rough 😂 But I just love being this boys mom. He is incredible and I’m so lucky! We trust each other, respect each other, we never speak unkindly to each other. I love how comfy he is in the world with new people. I think our travels over the years have helped make him open, confident and curious! But he is like that anyway, traveling just enhances it and reveals it more I suppose. I love when Bear gets me to do things that I might not usually do. It’s hard to explain, but I’m way more willing to jump into things because I want to do it for him! Like getting on scooters the whole trip because that’s what he wanted to do. Or jumping into freezing cold waterfalls in Hawaii… I trust him and follow and then it’s great. Let’s me be a kid again! I’m so lucky I was able to take the time and have the opportunity to go on this adventure. When @opencircles @unclerush asked me to speak, it was a no brainer as I’ve always wanted to go to Bali! I was reminded to stay in my heart and dance more! To trust the universe and it’s plan for me. It’s hard, but it’s the only thing you can do. Our journey to bali was 34 hrs door to door. We were happy beavers the whole way… just til the last 1.5 hours drive from airport 😉 On our way back to LA we stopped in #Singapore to give a talk on sustainability, climate change and health. There are so many people doing great things there. I met so many smart, sophisticated, interesting people. It was also really cool to see that families stay together for a lifetime there and take care of each other through the generations. What a special experience from start to finish, I look forward to returning!
aliciasilverstoneOur Bali adventure is coming to a close. I want to stay longer to rest in the flow… Wake up and head to the coffee shop for chats, breakfast, music and maybe a waterfall. There is such warmth, joy and ease here! I have a very scheduled busy life at home like we all do, and the pals I met here really flow. It’s like permanent vacation feels while still carrying on with life and work. I love not having much of a plan, just flowing and being. I’m always practicing the balance of getting tons of work done and scheduling self care, but I’m remembering how important it is to have days of just letting whatever happen 💁🏼♀️ I’ve loved how this whole trip has been loosely planned. I left LA knowing where I would stay for the first 10 days, after that it was all up in the air! We had a general idea of what we wanted to see and do, but mainly we just did whatever we felt each day and figured it out as we went. It’s been magic for me! Life at home is not like this, that said I love my life at home too. It’s just not this vacation yummy feeling! Thank you @nomeatnomad and everyone for all your amazing suggestions ✨
aliciasilverstoneWhat good friends we made! We were barefoot, long haired (well not josh 😉) full hearts and free! Eating, singing, dancing, scootering, adventuring. Bear loved these boys so much, they were so good with him - it was so sweet to see!
aliciasilverstoneMagical sunset ❤️ Bear & I spent the day on motorbike, @koreculturelab and then #belongbeach. So beautiful! We walked down a set of stairs and came across a cave of monkeys on the beach. Then we found our friends from Ubud who came to stay with us in Uluwatu. We pranced in the tide pools soaking up the sunset magic ✨ Side note, not one time have I laid on the beach and relaxed on this trip, we’ve explored the whole time. It’s been an action packed adventure #travelingwithakid 😂
aliciasilverstoneSo much sweet love from these precious creatures 💕 They reminded me of my dogs from the past + deer mixed together! Those soulful eyes 😍
aliciasilverstoneBeautiful dish @karma.kandara.bali. The food in Uluwatu is yum! @korekulturelab was amazing and they need them all over Bali, they have the most fresh delicious salads, kimchi and toasts. The owner Matt is really passionate about our earth and health, his food was one of my faves of the whole trip for sure! @drifterbali is nice for vegan benedict and the vegan breakfast burrito. @theloftbali has the yummiest vegan nachos! And I loved the mango bowl, burger, corn, jackfruit tacos + the breakfast burrito @manauluwatu. The food in Singapore at the end of our trip was great too. The magic mushroom and the burger at @originalsinrestaurant was yum, fun food! The pomegranate bowl at #thelivingcafe was so good and healing. And the sweet & sour at @wholeearthsg was delish. @desmondmkoh @nadyahutagalang
We also met a sweet local man who wakes up every morning at 3am to make chendol which is a traditional iced sweet treat made out of coconut milk. He does it to honor his grandparents who passed, and charges very little for it to allow for people to afford it and to keep the tradition alive ❤️
aliciasilverstoneOn our way home! Omg, serious adventure day (am I a terrible mother moment) We were on a boat on the way back from another island to Bali main land. It was way crowded so we decided we wanted to go up front by the captain. We found ourselves on the top of the boat, no seats, just one tiny foot rail (if that) with no one else but 2 sailors. They laughed at us and said "you might get wet" 😂 We had the best seats in the house for the sunset, we were feeling amazing taking in the beauty. Sitting cross legged on the floor of the roof of the boat with our sailor pals next to us... Then it got rough! We held on for dear life, if you were to let go you would fly off the boat! We were laughing so hard, but scared at the same time. At first I was feeling like the greatest mom ever, this was better than any ride at an amusement park ever. But then I felt guilty like, how did I get us into this? I asked the sailors next to us who spoke very very tiny english if they had seen worse and concluded that if they were concerned about their lives they wouldn't have gone up top. But oh my was it intense! And wild and amazing at the same time. At last, after 40 minutes of being drenched head to toe with salt water in our eyes and laughing while gripping the rail so tight, we were happy to see land!
