doncheadle Today is #EarthDay2020 and inspired by @moreeginahall, along with our mutual partner @100isNow, I’m jumping in to the #WCW celebrations!
I love the wide open spaces of Colorado. There’s a peace to them that is worthy of being protected. That’s why I love the work that Taishya Adams and @outdoorafro are doing in Colorado. As an educator, trainer, organizer, collaborator, and leader, @taishyasky stands firmly at the intersection of education, health, and the #environment, to help create a more humane world and sustainable planet. And isn’t that what #EarthDay is all about?
Taishya and Outdoor Afro are raising our awareness of the environmental issues impacting local families and communities. Empowering more of us to enjoy and protect nature is a part of the benefits I see in The Green New Deal. We want more green spaces in our communities and green infrastructure is a critical part of a healthy human ecosystem. Removing greenhouse gases from the atmosphere and reducing pollution by restoring our natural ecosystems will help us all breathe better.
When I was a kid, I loved golfing with my father and uncle. It was a way for me to experience the outdoors and bond with two of my favorite folk on the planet. And in Taishya’s own life, she is showing people that being outdoors is everything from playing golf, like she did with her grandfather, to climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, which she did last year. This moment of pause is a time to reflect on Mother Earth. What has this time caused you to think about?
