wellhayleyClinging onto a Frenchie while rewatching The Silence of the Lambs. Hopkins and Foster are AMAZING. That sounds like a Victorian detective agency. Anyway, this movie is DEEP. A great thriller, yeah sure, but it’s also about the trappings of a woman under constant male gaze in the workplace. There’s these impactful moments where a character breaks the fourth wall and looks directly at the camera. Unsettling and psychologically astute and intelligent and multi-layered. It’s way ahead of its time.
wellhayleySince lockdown McQuarrie @christophermcquarrie , Mr Cruise @tomcruise and my humble self have been busy zooming away the days talking about movies and rewatching some favourites like Broadcast News, Klute, Paper Moon, The Thomas Crown Affair (original) and Ordinary People... to name a few. Here’s a recent podcast we did, revealing some fun Mission Impossible news.............................💥💥💥 @lightthefusepod
wellhayleyThe dashing ‘Piero’ last week... we fell in love on a bridge in the San Marco district but it was short lived because I’m an actress of stage and screen and he wanted to sniff other butts. #illneverforgetyou #wewillalwayshavevenice
wellhayley@jamesmcavoyrealdeal@jamesmcavoyrealdeal @jamielloyd Cyrano is... It’s just...I can’t... I’m... it’s so good... James and Jamie and Martin Crimp... this production is so sexy and taut and distinctive and all the good words I don’t know how to spell. It’s electric. Ergh. I don’t know what to do with myself right now. @playhousetheatrelondon
wellhayleyThese bunch of delicious nutters train me every day of the working week for Mission Impossible. Dedicated and committed and highly skilled... and fighting over a packet of biltong. @wadeeastwood @lucycork @beefit_snacks
wellhayleyJust resting under a dog at the Connaught hotel after a day training on the racetrack for work. They keep their carpets VERY clean. I made a little inspection. I wonder if they use Vanish? #vanishconcealer @hourglasscosmetics
wellhayleyOoohlala @hourglasscosmetics #vanishconcealer is top notch for a beauteous glamour moment and it’s vegan and cruelty-free. Here I am on my 77th birthday, looking not a day over 53. Feeling fresh and fancy.
wellhayleyThank you @barearmsfilm for your brilliant, safe instruction in weapons training. From snipers, pistols and shot guns to the 50 cal I am learning how to handle these powerful machines under expert supervision. Thank you for keeping me safe out there and allowing me to develop the skills to THRIVE. #MI
wellhayley#michaelbillington @guardian has listed @rosmersholmplay as his top theatre show of 2019. Every second of the experience, on stage and off, is what I envisioned working in a theatre company could be like. A labour of passion, focus and consistency.
wellhayley@amaryllisfox has written a captivating, blood-pumping memoir about her life as a young field agent and I’m smitten. Amongst the new tricks I’ve learned from her, I shall now be destroying all secret documents by folding them into pleats and setting them on fire in toilet bowls ‘to minimise smoke and contain the ash.’ And by secret documents I mean all the mundane lists I seem to make on a daily basis. Thank you @amaryllisfox for sharing your unique experiences and displaying acts of remarkable courage. Your hair in your dust jacket pic is also, might I add, banging.
wellhayleyThank you @evening.standard for my nomination for Best Actress award for Rosmersholm. I’m thrilled to be in the company of the extraordinarily talented Dame Maggie Smith, Juliet Stevenson,
Cecilia Noble and Anjana Vasan. The last time I won an award I think was in 1999 for ‘most improved player’ at girl’s full-contact rugby. Oh so many tries since then and not of the rugby variety.
wellhayleyHere with my fantastic diving instructor, Federica @fede_underthesea , just before the last dive of my @paditv Open Water Diver course. First I worked through the study materials and took the theory exam. Then the practical part consisted of five separate dives, each one practicing different exercises working towards 18 meters deep... learning how to set up my kit, descend into the water while equalising, emergency procedures for safe diving, monitoring the release of nitrogen from my body on an ascent... and many more techniques...Federica’s clear and calm instruction served to match the underwater environment. I am in awe of the ocean and it’s formidable power and beauty. Thank you Federica! #cocomoments #cocoboduhithi @coco_resorts
wellhayleyit’s dark and there’s a beautiful storm brewing... otherwise I’d show you the view of the ocean and not my own narcissism. But here we are. And I love you. Tomorrow... we dive @paditv #cocomoments @coco_resorts #cocoboduhithi #maldives
wellhayleyRebecca Solnit, one of my favourite essayists, causing the hard-wiring in my soporific brain to untangle itself into new neurological pathways. What. A. Smart. Woman. #rebeccasolnit #whosestoryisthis?
wellhayleyI’m currently in training for Mission Impossible, which involves an obnoxious level of grunting, but today I’m squeezing in a recording (the first of many sessions) of the audiobook of The Voyage Out, Virginia Woolf’s first novel. Published in 1915, it is described as a ‘mythical voyage’ that satirises Edwardian Life. I shall catch up on Bake Off later, but first... 🤓📚 #enjoythiscreepymannequinhandyoudeserveit
