katewalsh Thanks u @themikedoyle for a seminal experience that goes on and on and on... We are ONE WEEK away from #AlmostLove releasing on-demand. I’m mindful that promoting anything during this time when people are experiencing incredible hardship is fraught. Over four years of work by hundreds of people (cast, crew, post) coming down to a single release date. I had hoped we could push til we were out of this crisis, but that decision was not mine to make. Our theatrical component is virtually nonexistent which was a hard pill to swallow, but thankfully we will have an audience via streaming.
My heart breaks for the hundreds of filmmakers whose years of hard work won’t be seen on the festival circuit this year, which is where small films get the attention they need, as we did this past year. Someone more articulate than I compared independent film to small businesses, mom and pop shops that need customers (an audience) to survive. I feel very lucky to have any distribution whatsoever to reach that audience.
