lilyingenewmarkThanks to @buildseriesldn for having me on to announce the coining of a new term - to be “kept in the blue”. Not quite in the dark, yet not entirely out of the blue. Really proud of this one. Tune in to @skyone @nowtv this Friday to watch #temple (in which I play someone with a slightly better functioning brain - thanks to the brilliant Mark o’Rowe)...
lilyingenewmarkFinally, our beloved @pincushionfilm is available on DVD and to stream on amazon and iTunes and googleplay! Its release comes at an apt time - the beginning of the academic year. If anyone feels like they’re struggling at school, just know that your mental health is as important as your learning experience (the two go hand in hand) and that you don’t have to feel alone in your struggles. This goes for all ages. 🦜💕🐈
Here’s a video I took earlier this year that made me nostalgic and sad. It reminded me of a time where this scene would’ve been normal and we would’ve continued on without consideration for change. Sadly, it’s still not abnormal - to walk through my local park and see my beloved aves swirling around floating rubbish, totally comfortable with its presence.
@harleyweir is selling prints with similar images (of #rubbish ) to raise money for @mcs_uk (who aim to clean up beaches and waters) at @soft_opening - please join her in raising money for a worthy cause and shaming supermarkets/food companies for continuing to endorse non-biodegradable/non-compostable packaging.
lilyingenewmark25 years of feeling alien to this world but nevertheless always feeling love for it. In what state will the world be in another 25 years, on my 50th birthday? @gretathunberg has organised a global climate strike today and I encourage all of us, not just students, to support her and mitigate the human injustice being done to the world 🧚🏻♀️🌎#climatestrike @fridaysforfuture
lilyingenewmark@lazyoafs @timetochangecampaign mental health anti-stigma campaign -
The conversation about mental health need not only concern those of us with mental illnesses - we all go through psychological, emotional and social struggles at points in our lives. At the same time as acknowledging and helping those of us with a mental illness, we must remember that, to some degree, everyone’s psychological and emotional wellbeing will suffer sometimes. So I think it would be helpful to change the conversation in a way that invites everyone to open up about how we are currently feeling and thinking, but to avoid self diagnosis or finite labels.
I am predisposed to and suffer from anxiety and depression (as diagnosed by specialists). And I use the word ‘suffer’ because it is painful to live with these conditions and I don’t have control over them, not least because it’s my genetic makeup but because there is not always a source of energy within me to draw from to fight against a thought or feeling. However, I sought professional advice and do take medication and go to therapy to help cope.
Hopefully by me sharing this with you, it will make joining the conversation less daunting.
lilyingenewmarkMake it count - mental health is not extracurricular.
If mental health were to be taught in schools as a subject of equal importance to maths and English - then perhaps children would have a greater sense of support and understanding of their emotional needs.
I missed a lot of school due to severe depression and anxiety, and with no emotional support at school and being made to feel excluded for my illness, it was not somewhere I felt comfortable going everyday.
Join me and @mentalhealthfoundation in signing a petition put forward to the government to give importance to mental health in schools. Link to the petition in my bio. #makeitcount #worldmentalhealthday #mentalhealthawareness
lilyingenewmark@pincushionfilm is premiering in the UK two weeks from now.
It’s been a long time coming, and I don’t know if I’ll ever be as attached to a character and story as I am to Iona and Pin Cushion, but Deb and I are ready to let you into our world. Please be gentle with us, claws away, and be sure to bring someone you love to watch it with...
In UK cinemas Friday 13th July 🐈
lilyingenewmarkHello everyone! Today is my 24th birthday... it’s been 6 years since I finished secondary school/sixth form and 2 years since I finished university. I am so lucky and privileged to have been able to have the education and safe learning environments that I had. Unfortunately, for a lot of children around the world, this is not the case. At @apartnerineducation we envision a world in which all children everywhere receive a quality education; where every teacher has access to ongoing professional development, good working conditions and decent living standards; and where international collaboration is based on an appreciation of interdependence, equity and mutual respect.
As a birthday wish - I would love each and every one of you who reads this to donate to the fund (in bio) to finish the building of our secondary school.
Please and thank you 🧚🏻♀️
lilyingenewmarkRemember that time I snuck out of a psychiatric ward only to jump out of a plane? Well, the fellow nutti boi who filmed/edited this clearly missed the memo that I was doing this to raise awareness for mental illness and suicide... and decided to put “Cry for you” over the whole video- N.B. Lyrics “you’ll never see me again” and “Since I was lonely from the start, I think the end is mine to write”
Enjoy my impression of Trump/Steve Buschemi falling to their fate...
